The challenge was to tie a series of five basins together that encompassed 2-3 billion yards constructed by other contractors. Serco was brought in to tie all the bases together with reinforced concrete boxes so that they’d work as one unit and then tie them into the channel that drains into Brays Bayou.
The project involved over 3,500 linear feet of 10 x 10 dual boxes. We proposed an engineering surveying solution where we tunneled underneath, cut into the side of the existing boxes and created a new junction box from the existing one. We avoided tearing up a busy intersection which saved the client over $100,000.
